You know that feeling when you come back from a radical trip (one where you traveled a long time for even longer distances), and someone eagerly asks you how your trip was … and the trip was in fact a gajrillion different kinds of awesome and you learned so much and could write endless detailed pages about how incredible it was, but all you can say is, “amazing” … ? Well, this workshop was kinda like that for us (minus the long time and distance)… simply put, amazing. Nirav Patel + Ed Peers are photographers that we’ve [heavily] admired for some time now, and they produce some seriously mind-blowing work … more like wizards than photographers really. Having the opportunity to even brush elbows with these guys was amazing … and then to learn from them? The ultimate level of amazing. And as if that wasn’t awesome enough, the other photographers in attendance were wildly talented and instant-friends type of people (head on over to the links at the end of this post to check out their work!), we feel so fortunate to have met and learned from everyone there. A HUGE big ol’ thanks to Nirav + Ed for their significant generosity, vision, humility, and for being inspirational masters of the craft. Here’s a little photosynopsis of our workshop weekend in Point Reyes …

When my incredibly beautiful and life-long friend Amber (who you’ve seen several times in our photographs) asked if I (Marina) would be into shooting some boudoir photos to give to her now hubby on the morning of their wedding, I got RIDICULOUSLY excited … then the nerves quickly set in for the both of us. Neither her nor I had done something like this before, and I wondered if I would even know were to start. After following boudoir work for some time by the likes of the wildly talented Danielle Fletcher and Jan Scholz (just to name a couple), I knew I wanted to TRY to channel a more interesting and fine-art inspired approach to this shoot … I just wasn’t sure how. But, really, I couldn’t be TOO worried, since Amber is insanely gorgeous … any living breathing person with a camera in their hand could take pretty pictures of her. I told Amber all I needed was a really big window, and for her to trust me, and we’d figure the rest out as we went along. The result, for me, is some of my favorite work yet. It was challenging, yet oddly natural. And for goodness sake she let me blog the photos. Amber, you are such a good friend … thank you heaps and heaps for experimenting with me, trusting me, and allowing me to share your photos for the purpose of possibly creating more boudoir work in the future. Here’s a teeny snippet of our first ever boudoir session … (eeeek!)

Wow…………… 2013, you were so darn good to us. What an unbelievable journey … its tough to sum up this past year in a paragraph, but I’m gonna try. Two Foxes Photography has become something only our wildest day dreams ever imagined … thanks to all of the amazing clients-turned-friends (and friends-turned-clients) that we’ve had the pleasure of working with, letting us into some of their most intimate moments, and trusting us to tell their story and do their moments justice. We cannot thank these wonderful people enough for putting their trust in us and quite literally fueling this photography dream. This business has allowed Matt and I to pursue what is nearest to our hearts. It looks like 2014 is shaping up to be a bangin year too … we can’t wait. And below, a selection of our favorite captures from this past year. Wishing all of you an incredibly happy, healthy, fulfilling, and inspiring 2014. Cheers!!! M+M

… oh and P.S. some of what’s below we haven’t blogged about yet, so consider this a sneak peek of what’s to come too 😉

When you’re in the presence of a great love, it really moves you … Tina + Alison’s wedding celebration moved the heck outta us … maybe in part due to the fact that we’ve captured this awesome family several times throughout the years, or maybe because these two wonderful women have been a couple for the better part of two decades, and just this year were able to stand before each other and make their vows of marriage. We loved everything about this incredibly intimate celebration – San Francisco City Hall, a very tight circle of attendees, and an outpouring of love that just simply moved us. We adore this family and were honored to be there! Here’s a glimpse of Tina + Alison’s special day!

A beautiful sweet couple, a pleasant evening, and Lighthouse field…what’s not to love about this shoot?! We met up with Brian + Lydia for a little engagement session several weeks ago and it was a pleasure having them in front of our cameras! They are incredibly sweet and we laughed a lot (I sure do love it when people find me funny) and we can’t WAIT for their July wedding. Here’s a little snippet of our evening together!

This family is so much fun. They happen to live on our street (yay for awesome neighbors!!) and we’ve had the pleasure of watching the little guy grow up (way too fast, I might add). We spent a beautiful fall evening capturing this trio exploring the trails of Pogonip, and their sweet furry child tagged along for the fun. We hope you enjoy this little glimpse into our evening together!
